I recently found a promotional postcard from Ace Books for their 1976
release of the original King Kong novel. The postcard features
Frank Frazetta's art used for the paperback on the front. You can see

I recently acquired a small December 1976 preview booklet from the UK
distributor EMI. It only has one page devoted to King Kong, but

Another recent acquisition is a Danish press sheet for King Kong.
Warner and Constantin Distribution distributed the film in Denmark, and
this press sheet includes a synopsis, credits, review quotes, and advertising art.

I recently acquired a set of nine French lobby cards for King Kong.
The French cards are a lot more exciting than the U.S. cards!

I also recently acquired a Spanish press sheet for King Kong.
Peninsular Films distributed the film in Spain, and this press sheet includes
a synopsis, credits, and advertising art.

The person who sold me the French lobby cards also included a print of the
VHS artwork for a French release. This is printed on newspaper, and I assume
it was a promotional page; the other side features the art for a different
movie.

One of the more unusual marketing partnerships to promote King Kong
was with Jim Beam whiskey, which included a King Kong decanter of whiskey
and an advertising campaign with Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Another recent acquisition is a UK press kit distributed by EMI. The kit
included a four-page brochure with images and ads for newspapers, plus a
"folder" with doors that open to reveal the poster artwork and
information about the film.

Scans of pages from two issues of Billboard have been added to the
Magazine Articles page.
The December 18, 1976, issue
featured a cool two-page ad about the release of the soundtrack on
Warner/Reprise, as well as a brief article about Kong-related audio
releases and a "Recommended LPs" blurb for the soundtrack.
The January 15, 1977, issue
featured an article about Marvin Kane, the president of Famous Music, which
included coverage of meetings related to the King Kong soundtrack.

A few months ago, I acquired a complete Paramount Press Information folder
for King Kong. The folder contained eight 8x10 B&W promotional
photos, as well as a 28-page stapled booklet with information about the film
and its stars. The folder can be found on the Press Books &

New York residents to the WTC filming, the ad inviting Los Angeles residents

The January 1977 issue of the French industry magazing Fiches du Cinema
featured King Kong on the cover. It featured an article about the
film largely made up of quotes from the press kit (translated to French, of course).

I recently acquired a folder of promotional materials that Sedgefield Jeans
sent to the retailers for the promotion tied to the release of the 1976
King Kong. Inside the folder are various items, including a pamphlet
with marketing suggestions, a coloring contest page, the first issue of the
Kong News newsletter, the Jim Beam ad from Ripley's Believe It or Not!,
and more.

I didn't even know this existed until I saw it on eBay: a King Kong
Talking View-Master set! I don't own it, but I did add photos of the front
and back of the box to the

contents inside are a translation of the Whitman/Gold Key Comics adaptation
