John Barry's score for King Kong is rightfully widely-regarded as one
of his best compositions. The soundtrack was originally released on vinyl LP,
and 8-track tape in 1976. It was also released on cassette at some point.
The first CD release of the soundtrack came in 1997, from Italian label Mark.
In 2005, Film Score Monthly released the soundtrack on CD. It was remastered
from the original tapes.
In 2012, Film Score Monthly released the Deluxe Edition CD, an
expanded edition that collects previously-unreleased music cues from the
movie, in addition to reproducing the original release.
