In late 1976 and early 1977, a promotion from the fast food restaurant
Burger Chef featured
free drink glasses promoting the 1976 King Kong. The glasses were
free with the purchase of a Big Shef, large fries, and a large serving
of Coca-Cola. There were a total of four glasses, all featuring John Berkey
art created for the film.
It appears that in parts of the country that didn't have Burger Chef
restaurants, the glasses were distributed by other chains. A lot of
people say they got them at regional Burger King restaurants. In the West
and Northwest, the glasses were available through Arctic Circle
restaurants. Thanks to
Clark J. Holloway for
letting me know about the Arctic Circle ads.
